The album received mixed reviews. The album received two out of five stars from the online music magazine Laut.de. The reviewer Dani Fromm writes that KC Rebell still seems “grounded, sympathetic [and] believable” in his sixth studio album, but after going through “not a single hook, no melody, not a line, not a beat in the ear” sticks. So she finally sums up that “this album passes by completely without a trace”.

The editors of the hip-hop magazine Backspin are mostly positive. Overall, the album achieved 7.5 out of 10 points. One editor compares it with his previous album Fata Morgana from 2015 and judges: "With 'distance' he ironed out the mistakes of the predecessor over long distances and delivered his strongest solo release to date." Another reviewer criticizes that Although there is “a wide range of emotions, thoughts and moods” , “too often an obvious comparison is made or new calculated content is dealt with”.

Florian Peking from MZEE writes that "the calculation of" distance "[works] perfectly" and "[should] work optimally for sales [..] ". In conclusion, however, he draws that the album " [] between all the superficiality is almost never [really exciting, new or even disturbing] ".
