Indira Weis (born September 30, 1979 in Groß-Gerau , Hessen , actually Verena Weis ) is a German singer and actress who became known in 2001 as a member of the band Bro'Sis .

Life

Verena Weis is the second child of a German-Indian couple. She got the nickname " Indira " on a trip to India when she visited relatives. She started taking guitar lessons at the age of five and later taught herself to play the piano by herself . After high school , she on the school Gernsheim graduated, she began studying musicology , American and Indian Studies . She broke off this to take acting lessons with a focus on singing and dance at the International Michael Chekhov School in Munich . There she worked in a hip-hop band and began working as a photo model . After a year, she also dropped out of drama school and instead did an internship in an internet agency. Most recently, before applying for pop stars , she worked as a producer at the Frankfurt regional radio station Planet Radio .

Bro'Sis

Weis took on 26 September 2001 when pop stars - Casting part in Frankfurt. Participation came about through Planet Radio : “I was on 'Planet Radio' before, the people there wanted to send me to the casting to report on it. However, that was too stupid for me. I would have been stamped straight away because I had to wear such a strange T-shirt from our station. So I went there alone because I was just curious. ” With You Make Me Wanna by Usher , she was able to convince the jury. She was ultimately accepted as a member of the R&B band Bro'Sis . On the band's second single , the title Peace of Soul was released as a bonus track , an English-language version of the song Mein Glück written by Weis . On August 5, 2002, she and Tobi Schlegl were voted “Trendsetter of the Year” of the New Faces Award in the Fashion category .

Solo career

After leaving Bro'Sis in May 2003, Weis concentrated on acting and appeared in an episode of SOKO Cologne and Das Traumhotel - Karibik in 2004 and in the musical Quo Vadis in Trier in 2005 . Then she took a media break and studied the Torah and learned Hebrew from 2007 to 2009 in a women's yeshiva in Jerusalem . During the stay she converted to Judaism . Back in Germany, she turned back to music with her own GmbH. In September 2009 her comeback single was released, a cover version of the Rudi Carrell title When it’s getting really summer again .

For the beginning of 2010 she announced that she would move to New York and attend an acting school there. However, entry failed.

In March 2010, Weis switched to Genius Group Productions and recorded their second single, Beautiful Destination , with producer Gabriel Ioana , which was released on June 25, 2010.

In January 2011 Weis was a participant in the RTL show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! , in which her ex-bandmate Ross Antony was already a participant in 2008. She had to leave the camp in fifth place on the January 27 broadcast. In Australia her relationship with ex- US5 singer Jay Khan developed . This lasted until July 2011.

In the second season of Entweder Broder in the episode Look who's conspiring , Indira Weis confesses in an interview to her hatred of the USA and explains why she suspects the Americans behind the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 .

Directly before leaving for Australia, Weis shot the music video for her third solo single Hol de Radio on the market square in Heppenheim and in the old town of Bensheim , which was released on January 28th as a download. Bayerischer Rundfunk accused her of copying a song by comedian Chris Boettcher with the melody from Hol de Radio . Weis rejects this, as the melody occurs "in every third song". After Boettcher's music publisher took legal action, the song had to be taken off the market.

In the February 2011 issue of German Playboy , a series of photos of her taken on the beach in Mauritius could be seen.

For RTL, she was an ambassador for the Women's World Cup in 2011 for the Women's World Cup. For this purpose, she released her fourth solo single on July 1, 2011 under the title Frauenpower , which was written by Jay Khan.

On October 23, 2011, at the 2nd German Israeli Congress , she presented the organizer Sacha Stawski (I like Israel e.V.) award to Ralph Giordano .

In January 2012 she founded the music label Imperium Records and has been CEO since then . In March 2012 Weis took part in the ProSieben Promiboxen and won her fight against Micaela Schäfer on points. Her fifth solo single, Indian Electro Pop, served her as an opening anthem, which she presented as the first release of her newly founded label. At the end of August 2012, Weis released the song Freedom is free - Free Pussy Riot (Freedom Song) on YouTube , as a sign that the members of the punk rock band Pussy Riot were punished disproportionately.

In September 2012, Indira Weis flew to Calcutta to start a career as a Bollywood actress in India . She was accompanied with the camera for the program Auf und vom - My international diary broadcast on VOX . On the occasion of the documentary, Weis published the song My Life in India on YouTube .

In November 2014, a twerking video with Indira Weis on YouTube received more media attention. In December 2014, it published the chill song on YouTube and signed subsequently in January 2015 record deal with major label Universal , which the chill song , published in July 2015 download.
