Up and away - my international diary is a documentary series that has been broadcast by the German broadcaster VOX since April 16, 2007 .

content

The television series is part of the docu-soap format . In the series Up and Away - My International Diary , VOX accompanies young people who are leaving their families, friends and home for the first time in their lives to spend some time abroad. Adolescents or young adults who are visiting Germans for a few months are also accompanied. The participants record their experiences and impressions with a handheld camera .

format

The reports with portrait character take up an average of 104 minutes. The production company will accompany the protagonists for one to two days in Germany and around ten days abroad.

criticism

Former participants repeatedly complained in various forum entries that events were exaggerated or misrepresented. It was also criticized that some or all of the scenes were staged for the camera. The impression is given that the viewer is there live, but in reality long periods of several months are simply skipped. The show fades out everything that does not fit into the concept. Facts are mixed up, clichés are used, some stories are not passed on at all.
