Erfurt-Roter Berg
Roter Berg is a district in the far north of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt . It is named after the Red Mountain , an elevation north of the district.
The Roten Berg is a district of the Erfurt-Nord prefabricated building complex . It consists of four parts, each with residential blocks arranged in a ring. The Karl-Reimann-Ring is located in the southwest, the Julius-Leber-Ring in the northwest, the Jakob-Kaiser-Ring in the northeast and the Alfred-Delp-Ring in the southeast.
The district is bordered to the north by the Red mountain on which the Thuringian Zoo Park Erfurt lies to the east to high winds associated with red-mountain settlement and the south and west of commercial space, to high winds and Gispersleben belong.
The construction of the prefabricated building area for around 15,000 residents began in 1977. Only in 1992 did it get a tram connection (initially line 6, since 2001 line 5 to the city center).
Today there are still 3,909 apartments in 234 buildings in the 0.77 km² large prefabricated building area. Some blocks have already been dismantled or demolished as a result of the population decline. Social projects are being promoted to counteract the trend of people moving away and the associated population decline. The development of a district center on the Roten Berg was published in February 2008 in a press release from the city of Erfurt. This model will initially run for two years. The installation of a “Garden of Generations” on the Red Mountain is also being considered. A cross-generational meeting place is to be created on the site of the day care center and senior citizens' club (Jacob Kaiser Ring 56).
Population development
The population of the Red Mountain is declining. The average age of 46.9 years is above the Erfurt average; the death rate is three times the birth rate.
