Meadow hill
The meadow hill is a district of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt . It is a mixed residential area consisting of single houses (mostly private homes) and refurbished prefabricated buildings from GDR times in the southeast of the city and part of the Erfurt-Südost residential complex .
The meadow hill was formed from the Melchendorf corridor . In the north there is also a short border to Herrenberg . The main street of the district is the street Am Wiesenhügel (until 1991 Rudi-Arnstadt- Straße ), the cross streets of which are now named after plant species. Until 1991 the streets had the relevant GDR names.

The first new apartments on the meadow hill were built in 1984. At that time, the district was designed for around 12,000 residents. There is a connection to the city center via tram line 4 (formerly 6).
With an area of only 0.45 km², the meadow hill is one of the smallest districts of Erfurt.
Population development
Like Erfurt as a whole, the meadow hill also lost its inhabitants after reunification. However, the meadow hill is not as old as the other quarters with comparable buildings. Due to the housing shortage in Erfurt after 2010, the number of inhabitants on the Wiesenhügel has increased slightly since then.
