Urbich is a district of the Thuringian capital Erfurt .

geography

Urbich is located north of the Steigerwald at the transition to the Thuringian Basin . The village is located on the Linderbach between Dittelstedt in the west, Linderbach in the north, Büßleben in the east and Niedernissa in the south in an unforested, agricultural area.

Urbich is about five kilometers southeast of Erfurt's old town.

history

Urbich was first mentioned in a document in 1232. It belonged to the county of Vieselbach , which the Counts of Gleichen sold to the city of Erfurt in 1343 . Thus Urbich became Erfurt's Küchendorf and thus part of Kurmainz . In 1802 Kurmainz was secularized and Urbich passed into Prussian ownership together with the city of Erfurt , in which it remained until 1945. From 1806 to 1813, however, it was occupied by the French and belonged to the " Principality of Erfurt " to which Napoleon had personally submitted.

On July 1, 1950, the place was incorporated into the community of Büßleben . Together with her, the village was incorporated into the city of Erfurt on July 1, 1994.

Urbich was the seat of the baronial noble family von Urbich , from which, among others, the Viennese minister Johann Christoph von Urbich came. There are still family members of the noble family in the form of Urbisch , Urbich or Ubisch. Urbich was 777 years old in 2009 and also celebrated this on 3 days in June. On this occasion, a new town house was handed over to the residents .
