The Alchemist (* 25. October 1977 in Beverly Hills , California ; bourgeois Alan Daniel Maman ) is an American hip-hop - producer and DJ .

Career

As a rapper, The Alchemist began his career in 1993 in the group The Whooliganz as Mudfoot . The group was discovered by Cypress Hill and House of Pain and became a member of the Soul Assassins . After the group broke up, Alchemist stayed with Cypress Hill and learned music production from DJ Muggs .

He produced tracks for Mobb Deep , Eminem , Nas and Jadakiss . He has been Eminem's live DJ since May 2005 and, after DJ Green Lantern left, he was the tour DJ on Anger Management Tour 3 . Although he is not under contract with Shady Records , he produced some tracks for the label on the album Eminem Presents: The Re-Up . In 2008 he published the EP The Alchemist's Cookbook: Better Living Through Chemistry on iTunes . With the producer Oh No he brought out the album Gutter Water in 2010 under the band name Gangrene . In addition to their own raps, Fashawn, Evidence, Raekwon, MED, Guilty Simpson, Planet Asia, Rocc and the Big Twins contributed guest verses. In 2012 the duo's follow-up album, Vodka & Ayahuasca, was released .

In July 2012, The Alchemist released the project album Russian Roulette , the songs of which only contain samples of Russian songs. In 2013 he produced the full album "My 1st Chemistry Set" by Detroit rapper Boldy James, which was released on Decon Records.

He celebrated his biggest success so far with his own release in 2014 with the album Lord Steppington , which he recorded together with Evidence as Step Brothers. Other guests include: a. Styles P from D-Block, Rakaa from Dilated Peoples and Roc Marciano.
