Player career

Philippe Bozon began his career as an ice hockey player in his French homeland at CS Megève , for whose professional team he was active from 1982 to 1984 in the Ligue Magnus , the top French division. In the 1982/83 season he was also awarded the Trophée Jean-Pierre Graff as Rookie of the Year of the Ligue Magnus. The winger then played from 1984 to 1987 for the Castors de Saint-Jean in the Canadian junior league QMJHL . In the 1985/86 season he was elected to the second All-Star Team of the QMJHL. During his time as a junior player he was selected as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues on September 29, 1985 , for whose farm team Peoria Rivermen he made 33 appearances in the International Hockey League from 1985 to 1987, parallel to playing with the Castors , in which he scored five goals and gave eleven assists.

For the 1987/88 season Bozon returned to France, where he received a contract with HC Mont-Blanc , with which he was French champion straight away . From 1989 to 1991 he played for their league rivals CSG Grenoble , with whom he also won the French championship title in the 1990/91 season after he had already received the Albert Hassler trophy as the best French player in the Ligue Magnus the previous year . The 1991/92 season he began at HC Chamonix , for which he scored 49 points in 22 games in Ligue Magnus, including 30 goals. In the middle of the season he joined the St. Louis Blues, for which he scored two goals in 15 games in the National Hockey League and gave three assists. In the following two seasons, the Frenchman was a regular for the St. Louis Blues in the NHL. In the 1994/95 season , which was shortened due to a lockout , he only played one more NHL appearance for the Blues before returning to France to his ex-club from Grenoble.

In the 1995/96 season Bozon was standing by the HC La Chaux-de-Fonds in the Swiss National League B under contract. He began the following season at its league rivals Lausanne HC , before moving to the Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League in the middle of the season. With Mannheim he was German champion three times in a row in 1997, 1998 and 1999 . From 1999 to 2001, the four-time Olympian for the HC Lugano played in the Swiss National League A .
