The Lynx de Saint-Jean were a Canadian ice hockey team from Saint-Jean , Québec . The team played from 1982 to 1995 in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

history

The Castors de Sherbrooke from the Québec Major Junior Hockey League were relocated from Sherbrooke to Saint-Jean in 1982 and renamed Castors de Saint-Jean. Their greatest success before their renaming succeeded the Castors with reaching the second round of the playoffs for the Coupe du Président in the 1985/86 season, in which they were subject to the Olympiques de Hull in the best-of-nine series with a sweep . In the remaining seasons, the Castors always qualified for the playoffs, but failed either in the first round or the playoff qualification.

Following the 1988/89 season, the team was renamed Lynx de Saint-Jean, but could only reach the playoffs twice (in the 1992/93 and 1994/95 seasons), in which the team each failed in the first round. In the summer of 1995, the franchise was finally relocated to Rimouski , where it has since participated in the QMJHL gaming operations under the name Océanic de Rimouski .
