The Canadien junior de Montréal (English Montreal Junior Canadiens ) were an ice hockey junior team from Montreal . They played in the Quebec Junior Hockey League from 1933 to 1961 and in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1961 to 1972 .
history
Canadien Junior de Montréal was founded in 1933 as the farm team of the Montréal Canadiens from the National Hockey League . The cooperation between the two teams lasted until 1967. Originally, the team took part in the LHJQ's game operations until 1961 . They then moved to the Ontario Hockey Association due to the professional-led competition , where they stayed until 1972. In the summer of 1972, the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec, founded in the meantime, threatened the OHA with a legal battle to locate one of the franchises in the largest city of Québec. As a solution to the problem, Canadien junior de Montréal received a one-year suspension from the OHA. During this time, the Montreal franchise changed its name to Bleu-Blanc-Rouge de Montréal and the OHA licensed the Canadiens to Kingston (Ontario) a year later , where it then played under the name Kingston Canadians .
The Canadien junior de Montréal's greatest successes were winning the Memorial Cup in 1950, 1969 and 1970, as well as winning the George Richardson Memorial Trophy in 1950, 1969 and 1970 and the J. Ross Robertson Cup , which they won in 1964, 1969 and Won in 1970. They also received the Hamilton Spectator Trophy in the 1961/62, 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons .
