The Bleu-Blanc-Rouge de Montréal (English Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge) were an ice hockey junior team from Montreal that played between 1972 and 1975 in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . The team was originally founded in 1933 as Montréal Junior Canadiens . In 1975 the team was renamed Montreal Juniors . The franchise moved several more times within the QMJHL and has been playing under the name Rouyn-Noranda Huskies since 1996 .

history

In their first season, the team under head coach Roger Bedard earned 26 wins, lost 36 games and won three draws. In the league, which was only played with nine teams at that time, the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge qualified seventh for the play-offs, only the last-placed Drummondville Rangers missed the leap into the finals. In the quarter-finals, the team lost four games against the Cornwall Royals and was eliminated from the competition.

In the 1973/74 season, the QMJHL was held for the first time in two divisions, the western and eastern divisions each comprised six and five teams. The Montreal franchise achieved its best scoring of the regular season , with a total of 89 points with a record of 43 wins, 24 losses and three draws. As second in the table in the West Division, the team met the Sherbrooke Castors , who were defeated with 4-1 wins. In the semi-finals, they were eliminated from the play-offs, the Sorel Éperviers won four games and secured their place in the finals for the Coupe du Président .

Also in the following, and at the same time last, season, the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge made it into the finals. After the Cornwall Royals were defeated in four games, the team lost to the Laval National . In 1975 the franchise was moved and re-established as Junior de Montréal .
