The Plattsburgh Pioneers were an American ice hockey team based in Plattsburgh , New York . The team played in the 1984/85 season in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
history
The Plattsburgh Pioneers were founded in 1984 as a franchise of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . The Pioneers were the first QMJHL team from the United States . Since the league did not want to allow an expansion draft for Plattsburgh, you had to go into the 1984/85 season with an inexperienced, only US-American team. Due to the lack of player quality, Plattsburgh lost all of the first 17 games, making the team the worst in the history of the QMJHL. The only point she could get was a loss in overtime. In addition, a stadium and coach change contributed to a chaotic premiere year, whereupon those responsible withdrew the franchise after only 17 games and then dissolved it.
