The Draveurs de Trois-Rivières were a Canadian ice hockey team from Trois-Rivières , Québec . The team played from 1969 to 1992 in one of Canada's three highest junior ice hockey leagues, the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
history
The team was founded in 1969 under the name Ducs de Trois-Rivières as a franchise of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League , making them one of the founding members of the league. After the 1973/74 season, the name was changed to Draveurs de Trois-Rivières, under which they played until 1992. The draveurs achieved their greatest success by winning the Coupe du Président in the 1977/78 and 1978/79 seasons. First they defeated Junior de Montréal 8-0 in the 1978 final and a year later the Castors de Sherbrooke with the same result. As champions of the QMJHL, they then qualified for the final tournament for the Memorial Cup , in which they could not prevail against the other teams in the Canadian Hockey League . In addition to winning titles in the QMJHL, the team from Trois-Rivières failed in the final in 1981, 1982 and 1992.
Following the 1991/92 season, the franchise was relocated to Sherbrooke , where it then took part in the QMJHL game operations under the name Faucons de Sherbrooke .
