Roland Alain Daigle (born August 24, 1954 in Trois-Rivières , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 406 games for the Chicago Black Hawks in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1969 and 1984 has contested the position of the right winger .

Career

Daigle spent his junior years between 1969 and 1974 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ) with the Ducs or Draveurs de Trois-Rivières in his hometown of Trois-Rivières . During the five seasons in the LHJMQ, the winger completed 297 games for the team, in which he collected 371 points scorer . In his last year with the team, he acted as team captain . With 148 points, he was also by far the best player in the draveurs and was therefore drawn twelfth in the first round by the Nordiques de Québec from the World Hockey Association (WHA) in the WHA Secret Amateur Draft 1974 . A few months later, the selection in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft took place in the second round in 34th position by the Chicago Black Hawks from the National Hockey League (NHL).

For the 1974/75 season , the 20-year-old made the direct jump into the NHL roster of the Chicago Black Hawks, having previously signed a contract there. Although Daigle never met the expectations placed in him and could never achieve more than 25 scorer points, he was an integral part of the Black Hawks for six seasons. He completed his best playing year in the 1978/79 season , when he reached the mark of 25 scorer points.

After he had only scored 16 points in the following year, his contract in Chicago was not renewed. The French-Canadian decided to give his career in Europe a new impetus. He moved to the 1980/81 season in the French National A , where he signed a contract with Gap Hockey Club . At the end of the season he returned briefly to North America to support the New Brunswick Hawks from the American Hockey League (AHL), for which he had completed some missions in the 1978/79 season , in the end of the season. For the game year 1981/82 Daigle moved again to Europe. He spent the season at EV Innsbruck in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (ÖEL). With 51 points in 24 games, he played a successful season that brought him a contract with the Jets de Sherbrooke from the AHL for the 1982/83 season . There the striker let his career come to a solid end to the end of the 198/84 season with 81 points in a total of 122 appearances, before declaring his active career over shortly before his 30th birthday.
