The Rapaces de Gap (officially Gap Hockey Club ) are a French ice hockey team from Gap that has participated in the Ligue Magnus since 2009 and is the reigning champion . The Gap HC was founded in 1937.

history

The club founded in 1937 started eight years later in the second highest league stage in the championship operation. In the following years, the club took part in the championship of the second highest French division, for the 1962/63 season, the leap into the Ligue Magnus succeeded for the first time . The club experienced its most successful period in the late 1970s, when the French championship was won in 1977 and 1978 .

Moreover, the association took in the seasons 1977/78 and 1978/79 at the European Cup in part. In both competitions, the team was eliminated from the competition in the first round , the team had no chance against the Cologne EC and HC Bozen and lost in the second leg with double-digit results.

After several promotions and relegations, the club won the championship in Division 1 , the second highest division in French ice hockey, for the first time in 1996 . This success was repeated in the 2008/09 season, with which the team rose again to the Ligue Magnus. In the following year, the entry into the playoffs was ensured, in two games the club was defeated against HC Morzine-Avoriaz and failed in the first round.
