Boštjan Goličič (born June 12, 1989 in Kranj , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 in the French Ligue Magnus since 2016 . His brother Jurij is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Boštjan Goličič began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HK MK Bled , for whose U20 juniors he played from 2003 to 2007. Between 2005 and 2007 he also played for the senior team of the club in the fourth highest Austrian division. From 2007 to 2009, the winger ran for the Calgary Hitmen , who had drawn him in the CHL Import Draft 2007 in the 1st round as the 40th player, in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , in which he was in the 2008/09 season with his team only in the playoff final for the Ed Chynoweth Cup was defeated by the Kelowna Rockets in the best-of-seven series with 2: 4 wins.
For the 2009/10 season Goličič received a contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , for which he scored eight goals in 47 games and made 17 assists in his rookie year in professional ice hockey in the Austrian ice hockey league . He also ran for Ljubljana at the end of the season in the Slovenian Ice Hockey League . In the 2010/11 season he was able to increase to 29 points scorer, including ten goals, in 58 games for Ljubljana's team from the Austrian ice hockey league. At the end of the season he played again in the Slovenian Ice Hockey League. After winning the Slovenian championship he left Ljubljana in the summer of 2012 and joined the Diables Rouges de Briançon from the French Ligue Magnus . With the team from the Cottian Alps , he won the French cup competition in 2013 and the national championship title a year later . Despite these successes, he moved to league competitor Gap Hockey Club in the summer of 2014 , with whom he also became French champion in 2015. In 2016 he moved on to Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 .
International
For Slovenia , Goličič took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2006 and 2007 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2009 .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships of the top group in 2011 , 2013 , 2015 and 2017 and Division I in 2010 , 2012 , 2014 and 2018 . He also represented his home country at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where the Slovenes surprisingly finished seventh after having previously stood on the ice at the qualifying tournament for the Winter Games. He also took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where the Slovenes finished ninth.
