The 2009/10 season of the Slovenian ice hockey league took place after the first edition of the international ice hockey competition of the Slohokej league and was therefore held in a shortened form. The championship was for the 8th time HK Jesenice , which was able to defend its title from the previous year .

After the end of the 2009/10 season of the Austrian ice hockey league, the two clubs participating there HK Jesenice and HDD Olimpija Ljubljana joined the field, which otherwise consisted of the Slovenian clubs of the Slohokej league. The Slovenian champions were played together with the best four teams in that league. The six teams first played the placements in two groups, then the two group winners and runners-up competed in the big and small finals in the form of a best of five series. HK Jesenice became the master.
