Andrei Makrov ( Russian Андрей Владимирович Макров / Andrei Wladimirowitsch Makrow; born December 14, 1979 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian ice hockey player who has been playing for GKS Tychy in the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish division, since January 2017 .
Career
Andrei Makrov began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of the Russian club HK CSKA Moscow , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 1996 to 1998 . The attacker then played for a year for the U20 juniors of the Finnish first division club HIFK Helsinki before spending two years with the professional team of FPS Forssa in the Mestis , the second Finnish division. The 2001/02 and 2002/03 season he began at Molot-Prikamje Perm in the Russian Super League and at FPS Forssa in the Mestis and finished each in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian league, at Neftjanik Leninogorsk .
From 2003 to 2006 Makrov was under contract with Neftjanik Almetyevsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Vysschaya League. The 2006/07 season he also began in the Wysschaja Liga with HK Dmitrov , but he left this after only 14 games and played in the following two years in parallel for HK Junost Minsk and HK Dinamo Minsk in the Belarusian extra league . After he had been active for their league rivals HK Homel in the 2008/09 season , the Estonian signed for the following season with the Slovenian club HK Jesenice , for which he scored 52 scorer points in 52 games in the Austrian ice hockey league , including 27 goals and was one of the best attackers in his team and in the entire league. With the second team Jesenices he was also Slovenian champion . In the play-offs, he made a significant contribution to this success with eleven points in five games.
From 2010 to 2012 Makrov played for Metallurg Shlobin in the Belarusian extra league and won the national cup competition with his club in 2011 and the national championship title a year later . In 2012 he was also the top scorer in the extra league. He then switched to league competitor HK Njoman Hrodna and was able to win the national championship title there in 2013, when he was also the top scorer in the league and was awarded the title of best striker, and in 2014. In the 2013/14 season, in addition to his games in Hrodna, he also played at HK Buran Voronezh and HK WMF-Karelija , both of which compete in the Russian Wysschaja Hockey League , as well as the Swedish Varberg HK , for its promotion to Division 1 , the third division in the country, he contributed through his appearances in the qualifying round, to use. In 2014 he moved to Kazakhstan, where he initially played for HK Arystan Temirtau , but moved to league competitor Gornjak Rudny in December . At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he went to HK Almaty , but left for Great Britain in February 2016, where he was on the ice for the Telford Tigers in the English Premier Ice Hockey League . For the following season he first returned to Almaty, then played for the second time at HK Homel from November 2016 to January 2017, before joining GKS Tychy in the Polish Ekstraliga .
International
For Estonia Makrov took part in the junior division in the U20 Junior D World Championship in 1997 and the U20 Junior C World Championship in 1999 . In the men's field, he competed for his country at the B-World Championships in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 and, after the conversion to the current division system, at the tournaments of Division I in 2001 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2011 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 as well as Division II in 2002 , 2010 and 2014 . During his long international playing career Makrov received numerous individual awards and was one of the best players in his country as well as the respective World Cup group in which it played. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 .
