The HK Gornjak Rudny ( Russian ХК Горняк Рудный ) is an ice hockey team from Rudny, Kazakhstan . The club was founded in 2000 and takes part in the Kazakh championship .

history

The club was founded in 2000 and has been participating in the Kazakh championship ever since . The 2007/08 season saw the first qualification for the second round. There the team reached the runner-up title behind Barys Astana . Due to the change from Astana to the Continental Hockey League , Rudny took over their place in the second round of the IIHF Continental Cup 2008/09 . There, however, the team retired prematurely after three defeats. In addition, the team played from 2003 to 2009 in the third-rate Russian Pervaya League .
