Matija Pintarič (born August 11, 1989 in Maribor ) is a Slovenian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Rouen Hockey Elite 76 in Ligue Magnus since 2017 .
Career
Matija Pintarič began his career in his hometown at HDK Stavbar Maribor , where he played in various youth teams and in the 2005/06 season he played his first game in the Slovenian league. In 2008 he signed the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , who completed his second season in the Austrian ice hockey league . There he only made two appearances and spent most of the season with the second team in the Slovenian league, where he showed excellent performances. In the following years the Ljubljana had little luck with the selection of their goalkeepers, so that Pintarič and his compatriot Aleš Sila repeatedly moved into the first link and the seasons played to the end. However, since Sila could not show the hoped-for performance, Pintarič took over his position in the 2010/11 season and played as an equal goalkeeper alongside the Czech Jan Chábera . Although his club was eliminated in the quarterfinals, Pintarič showed excellent performance in the playoffs with a catch rate of more than 95 percent and an average goal conceded of 2.08. However, he continued to play in the Slovenian league and became Slovenian champions there with Olimpija in 2012 .
In the summer of 2012 Pintarič was committed by Olofströms IK from Division 1 , the third Swedish division, where he spent the next two years. After a season with the Kazakh HK Beibarys Atyrau , he moved to the French Ligue Magnus in 2015 , where he initially guarded the goal for the Club des Patineurs et Hockeyeurs Dijonnais , from 2016 to 2017 for the Lyon Hockey Club and since 2017 for Rouen Hockey Elite 76 . In 2017 he achieved the best catch quota in the league and was awarded the Trophée Jean Ferrand for the best goalkeeper of the Ligue Magnus.
International
For Slovenia, Pintarič took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2006 , when he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament, and in 2007 and in the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2008 , when he was named after his compatriot Matevž Grabnar and the Belarusian Maksim Maljuzin had the third best quota of the tournament, and in 2009 , when he again achieved the third best quota after the Belarusian Wital Bjalinski and the Swiss Damiano Ciaccio .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad for the first time at the 2011 World Cup , but was not used. At the 2017 World Cup , he was on the ice for the first time for the Balkans at a World Cup.
