Jan Chábera (born January 25, 1984 in Jindřichův Hradec , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with Étoile Noire de Strasbourg in the Ligue Magnus .

Career

Chábera learned to play ice hockey at his home club HC České Budějovice , for which he played in various youth teams. In the 2001/02 season he dared the jump overseas and joined the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the United States Hockey League , where he could not prevail and returned to the Czech Republic after the end of the season. In the 2003/04 season he ran for the first time for the combat team in the Extraliga and brought it to a total of fourteen missions this season. Despite good performance, the club was relegated. Chábera shared the missions with Roman Turek in the following season , but completed much more games and managed with the team the immediate resurgence, in which he was significantly involved with ten shutouts in the basic season alone.

In the following years, he completed many games as a loan player in the lower leagues in addition to appearances in the extra league. With the BK Mladá Boleslav he became champions of the first division in 2008 . He started the 2009/10 season at HC Sparta Prague , but moved to KLH Chomutov in January 2010 , with whom he was again able to become champions of the first division.

In November 2010, Chábera received a trial contract with the Slovenian EBEL club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , which was extended in December until the end of the season. In early September 2011 Chábera was committed by the Rytíři Kladno .
