history

Zimní stadion Ostrava - Poruba , home ground of the club

The club was founded in 1946 as SK Poruba , which initially played as an amateur club on a regional level. In 1948 a nationwide association was founded, which the club joined and was renamed TJ Sokol Poruba . Between 1953 and 1959 the club played under the name DSO Tatran Poruba . In 1959, the ice hockey section stopped playing because the club's natural ice rink had to give way to a road construction project. In 1962 there were first efforts to revive the ice hockey section, but it was not until 1964 that the next game took place. In 1977 he was promoted to the third division of Czechoslovakia , the II. Národní liga. With only six wins from 36 games, however, the club rose again and was merged with the TJ Hutní in 1978. As a result of the merger, the club name was changed to TJ Hutní Montáže Ostrava , which the fans shortened to the battle cry "Huťa Muťa" .

In 1994 the club renamed itself HK Poruba and played at that time in the regional championship Moravia-North . A year later, they were promoted to the third division in the Czech Republic, the 2nd národní hokejová liga .

In 2001 the club was renamed HC Sareza Ostrava . In 2004, the men's team with the championship of the 2nd národní hokejová league made it to the 1st league , in which they played until 2009. With the descent in 2009, the men's team was dissolved due to financial problems, so that the HC VOKD Poruba initially concentrated exclusively on the youth work. In 2010 a new main sponsor was found, the club was renamed HC RT Torax Prouba and a new men's team was founded, which was accepted into the third-class 2nd národní hokejová league. In 2018, the team rose again to the 1st league with the championship title of the 2nd národní hokejová league.
