Career

Rok Tičar began his career in the youth teams of the Slovenian club HK Jesenice , where he developed into one of the most promising talents in his country, before looking abroad in 2007. At the Swedish Timrå IK he ran on the junior team and was also on the ice for five games with the combat team in the Elitserien , where he was able to book an assist. In 2009 his home club brought him back to Slovenia. After a good 2009/10 season in the Austrian ice hockey league , the ideal strike partners were found in Robert Sabolič and Žiga Jeglič . The relatively young group (neither player was early in the season older than 22 years) proved during the 2010/11 season to be the mainstay of the club, Tičar finished second in the scorers Evaluation of the regular season in third place and was established in December 2010 for the EBEL Young Star of the Month chosen. Parallel to the gaming operations in Austria, the national team played with his team in the Slovenian Ice Hockey League and was in 2010 and 2011 respectively Slovenian champions with Jesenice. In May 2011 the striker was signed by the Krefeld Pinguine from the German Ice Hockey League . After his first season in the DEL, in which he scored 20 points, the left shooter switched to the Kölner Haien in the league, where he played for two years. In these two seasons he reached the play-off final with Cologne and was the best preparer of the Haie in the preliminary round with 23 assists in the 2013/14 season.

From 2014 to 2016 Rok Tičar was under contract with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Continental Hockey League . He then moved to league rivals Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg .

From September 2017 he was under contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod before he was released in November of the same year and joined HK Sibir Novosibirsk in December . Another station in the KHL followed in summer 2018 with Kunlun Red Star from Beijing . On December 31, 2018, Tičar signed a contract with the Kölner Haien , valid until the end of the 2018/19 season , where he had already played from 2012 to 2014.

International

For Slovenia, Tičar took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2006 and 2007 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2009 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2009 , 2010 , when he was not only the top scorer, but also the second best scorer of the tournament after his compatriot Žiga Jeglič in 2012 , 2016 and 2018 . In 2011 , 2013 , 2015 and 2017 he played for Slovenia in the top division. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics and the Games in Sochi , in which the Slovenes surprisingly finished seventh, himself. Also in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games and the Games in Pyeongchang , where he and his Team ninth, he took part with the Slovenes.
