David Madlener (born March 31, 1992 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Klagenfurt's AC in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Career

Madlener began his career in the youth teams of the Vorarlberg club VEU Feldkirch and went through the various youth teams there before he made his first professional appearance in the National League , the second highest Austrian league, in the 2011/12 season . In 2013 he moved to the ÖEHL Club EC Dornbirn , where he served as a substitute goalkeeper for three years. He has been playing for the Klagenfurt AC since 2016 .

International

Madlener, who was not used internationally as a junior, made his debut on November 7, 2014 in a 5-1 win in the friendly against Japan in Ljubljana, Slovenia in the Austrian national team and took part as the second substitute goalkeeper in the 2015 World Cup, where he was not used came. He made his first competitive appearance in the national team on September 1, 2016 in the 8-1 defeat by Latvia in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 , when he came on for David Kickert in the final third and had to accept three more goals.
