Stefan Geier (born January 8, 1988 in Judenburg ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been playing for the EC KAC in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2008 .

Career

Stefan Geier began his career in the youth teams of the former national league team EV Zeltweg and made his debut in the 2003/04 season in the combat team. A year later he already had a regular place in the squad. During the season, the Bundesliga club EC KAC became aware of him and his brother Manuel and signed the two players.

For the 2007/08 season, the brothers were awarded to the Swedish third division club IFK Arboga IK , where the two completed the full season and finished with good statistics. In the summer of 2008 the two returned to the EC KAC and together with David Schuller as the center they formed a quick and playful line of attack. This season, the team succeeded in winning the championship title due to the great depth of the squad . Geier was again Austrian champion with the Klagenfurt team in 2013.

International

Geier took part in the junior division for Austria in the U18 world championships in 2005 and 2006 as well as in the U20 world championships in 2007 and 2008 .

Geier made his debut in the Austrian men's selection on November 5, 2009 in the 2-4 defeat in the friendly against Belarus in Babrujsk . For the team of the Alpine state he played at the World Championships in Division I in 2012 and 2014 , when the promotion to the top division was successful, and in 2016 , when promotion was missed due to a final 2-1 defeat against Slovenia .
