Johannes Bischofberger (born July 13, 1994 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EC KAC in the multinational Erste Bank Ice Hockey League (EBEL) since 2016 and plays in the position of striker .
Career
Johannes Bischofberger went through the junior stations of the Swiss clubs SC Rheintal, EHC Uzwil and EHC Oberthurgau and played in the Dornbirner EC in the national league in 2011 as well as in the farm team and the U20 of HC Innsbruck .
Then he was at EC Red Bull Salzburg until 2013 , where he not only made his debut in the U18 and the farm team, but also at the age of 17 in the EBEL. For the combat team, he came to 45 missions with five goals and eight assists. He was also involved in winning the European Trophy 2011 . In 2013/14 he ran for the U20s of the Swiss club HC Davos and moved to Hockey Thurgau in the National League B , the second highest division in Switzerland , for the next two seasons . There he came in 72 missions on 16 goals and 12 assists.
In the summer of 2016, Bischofberger was signed by the EBEL club EC KAC and won the election as an EBEL YoungStar in January 2017 . In February 2017, his contract was extended until the end of the 2018/19 season.
International
Bischofberger played for the Austrian U18 national team at the U18 World Cup 2010 of Division IA , the U18 World Cup 2011 of Division IIA and the U18 World Cup 2012 of Division IB . After the Austrians were promoted to the IB in 2011 by winning the IIA gold medal, Bischofberger was the top scorer of the Austrians at the 2012 World Cup and was voted the best striker of the IB by the officials. He also had the highest percentage of face-offs won in the group.
He then took part with the U20 national team in the U20 World Cup 2012 in Division IA , where he was voted the team's best player in two games. He was also the strongest Austrian in the face-offs and was the second best scorer in his team. At the U20 World Cup 2013 of Division IA , Bischofberger was the top scorer of the Austrian team as well as the IA's top scorer and was once again voted best player of a game twice. At the U20 World Cup 2014 in Division IA , he was also the captain and was again the strongest Austrian in the face-offs.
He made his debut in the men's national team in February 2017 in a preparatory tournament for the 2017 Ice Hockey World Championship .
