Steven Strong (born February 16, 1993 in Villach ) is an Austro - Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL) for the Carinthian club EC KAC since 2015 .
Career
Steven Strong is the son of the Canadian ice hockey player Ken Strong and a villager. His father was playing for the EC VSV when he was born .
Steven Strong started ice hockey in Toronto and played in the U16 team (Minor Midget, AAA) of the Toronto Marlies in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) in 2008/09 . The team was the first minor midget team in the GTHL to win the four most important titles, including the GTHL championship and the OHL Cup
In 2009 he was drafted by the Belleville Bulls from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and came to 130 missions for the team, with the play-offs being reached in the 2010/11 season . He then played two seasons for the OHL club Saginaw Spirit from Michigan . The best result of this season was reaching the semi-finals of the play-offs 2011/12.
In the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) ice hockey league, he played for the University of Guelph from 2013 to 2015 . Strong then moved to Europe and has been playing for the Carinthian club EC KAC in the EBEL since 2015 .
International
The dual national Strong was not eligible to play for Austria after a decision by the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2009. This decision was overturned later and so Strong was on 16 April 2017 in a friendly against Italy in Neumarkt debut in South Tyrol and in the World Cup 2017 in Division I for the first time for the Austrian national ice hockey team accrues.
