history
The club developed from a local ice skating and figure skating group and played its first games in the late 1950s. The first championship game took place in 1st class in Styria in 1962. Until 1973, the club, which only had a natural ice rink, played mainly with varying success in national and regional leagues. Between 1973 and 1976, regular games on the natural ice rink were not possible due to the mild winter, which ultimately led to the construction of the Aichfeldhalle, which is still the Zeltweger venue today. In 1976, the club resumed playing under the name EV Zeltweg, initially playing in the major league and then rising to the national league.
In the following years, the Zeltwegers played in regional or national leagues, depending on their sporting success . In 1994/95 and 1995/96 two seasons followed in the Bundesliga, in the 2000/01 season the team took part in the Bundesliga, which was merged from the national and Bundesliga, but then rose again to the national league. EV Zeltweg played there until 2009 when the club and the Austrian Ice Hockey Association had disagreements. Thereupon the EVZ withdrew the notification for the national league and played the season 2009/10 in the third highest division of Austria, the Oberliga . On May 25, 2010, the association filed for bankruptcy at the Leoben Regional Court, as the association has between 1 and 2 million euros in debt due to a financial affair.
