Mario Schaden (born April 30, 1972 in Zeltweg ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player and current coach . His son Philipp (* 1999) is also active as an ice hockey player and currently (as of April 2017) plays in the KAC U-18 team .

Career

Damage began his career in the youth teams of EV Zeltweg and after his first season in the fighting team he moved to the KSV ice hockey club before joining the EC KAC in 1990, to which he remained loyal for the rest of his career. He completed a total of seventeen seasons in Klagenfurt, making him one of the club's longest serving players. He always took on the role of the worker, who in the later years mainly led the young players and was very popular with the fans due to his commitment. In total, he was able to celebrate four championship titles with the club before he announced his withdrawal from active sport in 2007.

International

Mario Schaden also represented Austria on international ice and took part in two Olympic tournaments, among other things. In total, he wore the national team's dress for 65 games , scoring ten goals and five assists .

Coaching career

After retiring from the active game, Schaden took over the post of assistant coach at EC KAC, which he held together with Gerald Ressmann behind head coach Emanuel Viveiros . He also took over the training of the junior teams together with Ressman. In the 2009/10 season , the work of the trio was crowned with as many championship titles as the U-20 and U-17 teams triumphed in addition to the combat team. In the summer of 2009, Schaden withdrew from the combat team to take up a post with the Klagenfurt fire brigade . His commitment as a youth coach remained upright.
