Gerald Ressmann (born July 24, 1970 in Villach ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who most recently worked as head coach at EHC Lustenau . He has also been running the Ressmann ice hockey school since 2009.
Career
Ressmann began his career in the youth teams of the EC VSV and made his debut in 1987 in the fighting team in the Austrian ice hockey league . In the following years he grew into an important pillar of the team and in 1993 won the title of Austrian champion with the club . In total, he remained loyal to the club for nine years, only interrupted by a one-year engagement with the Vienna EV . In 1997 he signed a contract with Villach local rivals EC KAC , where he stayed for another eight years, celebrating three championship titles and one elite championship title. The 2000/01 season was his most successful, when he was the top scorer in the Austrian league with 111 points from 46 games and also led the plus / minus statistics with a value of +59 .
After his time at EC KAC , he moved to the Vienna Capitals for two more seasons . Due to a serious injury (broken wrist) he had to end his career early. In 2007 he returned to the EC KAC and took over the post of junior manager until 2014. In addition, Ressmann also had other functions, such as the assistant coach of the fighting team (2008/09 to 2011/12) and that of the U20 coach (2007 / 08, 2008/09, 2012/13, 2013/14). Furthermore, Ressmann was able to celebrate the championship title as head coach of the U20 team of the club in 2009 with the fighting team as well as with the U20 and U17 teams.
In 2009 he founded the Ressmann ice hockey school. Between February 2016 and November 2017 he was the head coach of the EHC Lustenau .
International
Ressmann was an integral part of the Austrian national team for a period of fifteen years and took part in three Olympic Games (1994 in Lillehammer, 1998 in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake City). He made a total of 140 international matches for Team Austria.
