The 1994/95 season was the fourth edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with seven teams. The defending champion was HK Jesenice , who lost to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana for the first time in the final .

Participant field and mode

The field of participants remained unchanged compared to the previous year. Likewise, the mode remained, since during the 1994/95 season the hosting of the Alpine League was suspended in favor of a European League Cup. A basic round was played in the form of a simple round-trip round. Then the field of participants was split up: the four best-placed teams played another simple round, the last three teams a double round trip. After the placements in the first phase, bonus points were distributed, the table from the first phase of the championship was continued.

This was followed by playoffs with semi-finals and finals in the Best of Seven mode . The other placements were also played out.

Basic round

HDD Olimpija Ljubljana won the regular season for the second time since the league was founded, closely followed by defending champion HK Jesenice. HK Bled and HK Celje, who had won the basic round the year before, landed tied on ranks three and four and already had a clear gap to the bottom of the table. HK Slavija failed to win a game on the fourth attempt. The team ended up in last place with zero points.

Intermediate round

The second round brought no more fundamental changes. However, HK Celje managed to overtake HK Bled in the table. The team then had to stop playing for financial reasons and could not end the season. In the lower group, HK Triglav overtook the team from Maribor.

Playoffs

While the Ljubljana won four games against HK Bled, the series of HK Jesenice against HK Celje had to be penalized, which means that Jesenice was almost automatically seeded for the final. The new edition of the very exciting and tight final series between the two teams in the last few years was, despite two opening wins of HK Jesenice, in the end quite one-sided in favor of the Ljubljana, who were able to win the title of the Slovenian champions for the first time with four wins in a row .

Like the semifinals, the series for third place, in which Celje should have played against Bled, was penalized in favor of HK Bled. HK Triglav won the series for fifth place with four wins and four games. For HK Slavija remained after four more defeats a single point scored, which was only a bonus point and did not come from a draw.
