The HDD Jesenice (Slovenian: Hokejsko drsalno društvo Jesenice ) is a Slovenian ice hockey club from Jesenice , which was founded in 2013 as a semi-professional club and has since taken part in the Alps Hockey League , formerly the Inter-National League , and the Slovenian Ice Hockey League .

history

After the 2011/12 season, the long-standing Slovenian top club HK Acroni Jesenice went bankrupt. A year later, a new club was founded under the name Team Jesenice , which immediately started playing in the Inter-National League and the Slovenian Ice Hockey League . In August 2014 the club was renamed HDD Jesenice.

In April 2015 the HDD won its first national championship title when the club beat the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana team with 3-1 wins. Jesenice was runner-up in 2014 and 2016. In 2016 HDD Jesenice started with 15 other teams in the Alps Hockey League , which was founded as the successor organization to the Inter-National League. In mid-October 2016, Jesenice were undefeated in ten games and were leaders. In 2017 and 2018 the club won its second and third Slovenian championships and in 2018 the cup competition for the first time.

Venue

The home of the club is the Športna dvorana Podmežakla in Jesenice , which seats 4,500 spectators.
