The 2001/02 season was the twelfth edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with eight teams. The defending champion and new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant field and mode

The field of participants and the mode remained unchanged compared to the previous year. A simple round-trip round was played again in the basic round. The four best-placed teams received bonus points and played the seeding for the playoffs, which were held in the form of the final and the third place match. The teams in ranks five to eight played out the final placement in a simple round-trip round.
