Andrej Hočevar (born November 21, 1984 in Ljubljana , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Image Club d'Épinal in the French Ligue Magnus since 2013 .
Career
Andrej Hočevar began his career in 2000 at HK Mark Interieri , where he completed two seasons before moving to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , playing for the first time in one of the most important professional teams in Slovenia. All in all, he stayed at the club in his hometown for four years and, in addition to regular goalkeeper Klemen Mohorič, also made a few appearances with which he was able to draw attention. In the seasons 2002/03 and 2003/04 he was each Slovenian champion with Ljubljana .
When the HK Jesenice in 2006 to his first season in the Erste Bank Hockey League took, Hočevar was contracted to there with the established do Gaber Glavic form the Torhüterduo. However, both could not convince in the club's premier season, so that at half time of the season, a Canadian Seamus Kotyk was committed, but he only stayed in Jesenice for one season. For the 2007/08 season the club brought Robert Kristan back from Sweden. Hočevar acted as his substitute and was able to draw attention to himself with good performances, whereupon the club decided to make him Kristan's successor and to go with him as the first goalkeeper in the next season. Also due to the rather moderate defensive work Hočevar could not repeat his services and was replaced by Matthew Yeats before the playoffs .
After the 2008/09 season , his contract was not extended by HK Jesenice, with whom he was also Slovenian champions in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons . After a few months without a club, he signed a contract with the Italian first division club SG Pontebba at the end of 2009 , where he replaced Andrea Carpano as the first goalkeeper, as he had to pause for a long time due to an injury. In spring Andrea Carpano switched to HC Pustertal and the goalkeeper question was clearly settled. Hočevar was able to convince and led the goalkeeper statistics in the meantime. For the 2011/12 season, the Slovenian moved to the Ducs d'Angers from the French Ligue Magnus . After spending the 2012/13 season at HK Sokol Kiev in the Ukrainian Professional Hockey League , where he was runner-up, he returned to France and has since played at Image Club d'Épinal . In 2016, he was also voted Ligue Magnus' best goalkeeper with the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals .
International
For Slovenia , Hočevar took part in the junior division of Europe Division I of the U18 World Junior Championship 2000 and Division I of the U18 World Junior Championship in 2002 and Division I of the U20 World Junior Championship in 2002 , 2003 and 2004 . In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2004 , 2007 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 and in the World Championships in the Top Division in 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2011 and 2013 . He also regularly received personal awards at world championships. At the U18 World Cup in Division I in 2002 and in the Men's World Championships in Division I in 2007 and 2009, he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
In addition, he was in the squad of the Slovenes in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006 , Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 and the Winter Games in Sochi itself. There, however, as in the qualification for the 2006 Games, he was not used.
