Story and content

The Yearbook of Psychoanalysis was founded in 1960 as a scientific forum of the German Psychoanalytical Association (DPV) with the aim of “bringing back from exile and reviving psychoanalytic research and treatment that had suffered severe losses as a result of the National Socialist civilization as far as possible Opportunity to improve their development. ”Since then, the yearbook has developed into a scientific journal open to all professional societies.

The sections of the yearbook are devoted to clinical practice , clinical theory and applied psychoanalysis . The publication is not tied to one of the numerous psychoanalytic schools, but is open to any interpretation, "which is protected from arbitrariness by being faithful to the method." The openness in the discourse is intended to achieve an optimal exchange of perspectives and traditions. The focus of every publication is the detailed documentation and discussion of clinical work.

The yearbook has a long tradition of publishing relevant lectures at international congresses, as well as the annual Karl Abraham and Wolfgang Loch lectures. Outstanding characteristics of the yearbook are its interculturality and its interdisciplinarity, which are achieved through the contributions of foreign authors as well as the dialogue with related discourses in science, art and society. The current editors have implemented a peer-review process in the selection and quality assurance of the submissions. A particular concern is the promotion of young authors.

The supplements to the yearbook , which cover a broad spectrum of psychoanalytic discourses, are also rich in tradition and firmly anchored in the scientific community .
