Wolfgang Berner
Wolfgang Berner (* 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst .
From 1995 to April 2010, Berner was Professor and Director of the Institute for Sexual Research and Forensic Psychiatry at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Before that, the psychiatrist was the therapeutic director of a special prison for sex offenders in Vienna. The focus of his work is the area of sexual delinquency and pedophilia as well as group therapy for pedosexual men. Berner is also a court expert for sex offenders.
From 1984 to 1993, Berner was chairman of the Vienna Psychoanalytical Association , and in 1993 he gave the traditional Sigmund Freud lecture .
Wolfgang Berner is married and has three children. He is the brother of the film director Dieter Berner .
