Matthew Yeats (born April 6, 1979 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with HK Jesenice .

Career

Matthew Yeats began his career in 1995 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League and signed his first professional contract with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies after four years with the University of Maine team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Although he had been drafted by the Los Angeles Kings during the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 , he was on NHL ice for the Washington Capitals , but could not convince in five missions. In the following years he moved between several teams in the North American minor leagues before he ventured to Europe for the 2007/08 season.

With Sparta Sarpsborg he reached the quarterfinals of the Norwegian league , but was subject to the IK Comet . After his team did not want to extend the contract with him, he moved to the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen for the Herlev Hornets . However, the team did not play a successful season and ended up in last place and could only win six of their 36 games. Yeats then signed a contract with HK Jesenice for the upcoming playoffs of the Austrian league , as the team had a goalkeeping problem throughout the season. After good performance in the first two games of the quarter-finals, however, Yeats injured and the team was eventually eliminated by the eventual runner-up.
