The 1998/99 season was the eighth edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with four teams. The defending champion and new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant field and mode

As in previous seasons, the Alpine League was played in the run-up to the Slovenian Championship (see Alpine League 1998/99 ). The three Slovenian clubs received bonus points following their placement ( HDD Olimpija Ljubljana received three, HK Jesenice 2, HK Bled one and club HK Slavija Ljubljana, which is not part of the Alpine League, also received one point). Then a first round was held, at the end of which HK Jesenice was eliminated. The remaining three clubs each played against each other in a second phase, and the two best-placed clubs then played the final as a Best of Five series against each other.
