Andrej Hebar (born September 7, 1984 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Újpesti TE from Budapest in the MOL league since 2016 .

Career

Hebar began his training in Slovenia, but moved to Sweden early on, where he spent two years in the youth teams of Västra Frölunda HC before he came to the Czech Republic in 2002. There he played with several teams in different levels of ability - including for HC Havířov and HC Oceláři Třinec in the Extraliga and again Havířov and HC Slezan Opava and HC Olomouc in the 1st division - but could not for a long time European top level and therefore finally returned to Slovenia in 2006. During his time in the Czech Republic, he had already played for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana and its city neighbor HK Slavija Ljubljana in the Slovenian ice hockey league and was Slovenian champion for the first time with Olimpija Ljubljana in the 2002/03 season .

After his final return to Slovenia in 2006, he first ran for his hometown club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana, with whom he was again champion in the 2006/07 season , before signing a contract with local rivals HK Jesenice . In the following three years he played for the club both in the Austrian ice hockey league and subsequently in the playoffs of the Slovenian ice hockey league and over time he became an important part of the team and leading player and was with the team in 2008, 2009 and 2010 Slovenian champion three times in a row. In the spring of 2010, however, there was a scandal in the team when several players in the club were violent after winning the national championship against the coach. Hebar's role in this incident was not known, but he was one of the players who were fired from the club shortly afterwards.

In summer 2010 he returned to Olimpija Ljubljana. From January to March 2011 followed a two-month engagement with the Colorado Eagles from the Central Hockey League , for which he scored three goals and three assists in ten games, after which he again joined Olimpija Ljubljana. In October 2011 he moved to IF Troja-Ljungby from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division, for which he played the season to the end. He started the 2012/13 season at KHL Medveščak Zagreb , but returned to Ljubljana after just a few match days, where he played until December 2015 - only interrupted by a brief stint in Slovakia at HKm Zvolen around the 2014 season change. After he was on the ice at Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 in the French Ligue Magnus in 2015/16 , he then moved to Újpesti TE in the MOL League .

International

For Slovenia , Hebar took part in the junior division of the U18 junior world championships in Division II 2001 and the U18 junior world championships in Division I in 2002 as well as in the U20 youth world championships in Division I in 2002 , 2003 and 2004 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2016 as well as at the World Championships in 2006 , 2008 and 2011 . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver .
