The 2005/06 season of the Interliga was the eighth and final staging of the ice hockey championship designed as the successor to the Alpine League . For the first and only time the league was divided into two performance classes, with five teams participating in both groups. The Hungarian team Alba Volán Székesfehérvár became champion of the A group for the second time , the winner of the B group was the farm team of HK Jesenice .
The field of participants in Group A was reduced by two teams. HK Jesenice has been with his first team in the Austrian ice hockey league since this season and only remained with a farm team in Group B. The Hungarian club Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák completely waived their participation .
The mode has been changed a little again to take into account the changed number of teams. In the basic round, two rounds were played, which resulted in a total of sixteen games. A quarter-finals were then played, in which the teams in fourth and fifth place in a best-of-three series played off the last playoff place. The semi-finals and finals were then held in best-of-seven mode.

Group B
Participant and mode
Five teams from two nations took part in the B group, with none of the teams except the HK Jesenice farm team having previously participated in the Interliga. The mode corresponded to that of Group A with the exception that the basic round was only played as a simple round-trip. Likewise, all playoff encounters remained in a best-of-three series.
The HK Jesenice farm team secured the championship with a 2-0 win in the final series. For the club it was the third championship title of the Interliga.
