The 2000/2001 season of the Interliga was the second staging of the ice hockey championship designed as the successor to the Alpine League and was played with a total of nine teams from four countries. The defending champion was the EC KAC from Austria, who no longer took part in the league. The new champion was the Slovenian team HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant and mode

The four Austrian participants from the premiere season ( EC VSV , VEU Feldkirch , Wiener EV and Meister EC KAC ) had withdrawn after the first staging of the league, as in Austria a sufficiently large field of participants had come about with the merging of the Bundesliga and the national league to play an independent state league that promised more attraction among the spectators.

The other teams of the premiere season remained loyal to the league. They were supplemented by the Slovenian clubs HK Bled (which had also participated a few times in the Alpine League ) and HK Slavija Ljubljana and the Hungarian club Ferencvárosi TC . With KHL Medveščak Zagreb a Croatian club was added. The team HK Roter Stern Belgrade from Serbia completed the field of participants.
