Mitja Robar (born January 4, 1983 in Maribor , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league .
Career
Mitja Robar began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HDK Stavbar Maribor , for whose professional team he was active in the Slovenian ice hockey league from 1999 to 2004 . In the 2003/04 season he played parallel for HK Slavija Ljubljana . From 2004 to 2006 the defender ran for the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .
He then spent five years at HK Jesenice , for which he was on the ice in the Austrian ice hockey league . At the same time he took part with the team in the Slovenian championship. In 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 he was Slovenian champion four times in a row with Jesenice .
The 2011/12 season began Robar as a loan player at Växjö Lakers Hockey in Sweden. However, the team immediately loaned him to the IK Oskarshamn from third-class Division 1 . In the further course of the season he played eleven times for Lukko Rauma from the Finnish SM-liiga . In January 2012, the Slovenian national player was finally signed by the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League . In total, he scored ten goals and 32 assists in 106 DEL games for Krefeld. After two and a half years in Krefeld, he moved to BK Mladá Boleslav in 2014 in the Czech extra league , where he played almost 100 games.
In June 2016 he returned to the Austrian Ice Hockey League when he was signed by the EC KAC .
International
For Slovenia , Robar took part in the junior division of the U18 world championships in Europe Division I 2000 and Division II 2001 and the U20 world championships in Division I in 2002 and 2003 .
In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2004 , when he achieved the best plus / minus balance of the tournament, in 2007 , 2009 , when he achieved the most scorer points for a defensive player, in 2012 and 2014 . He also represented Slovenia at the 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2011 , 2013 and 2015 World Championships in the top division. He was also on the ice for his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang and at the Winter Games in Sochi itself, when the Slovenes reached a surprising seventh place.
