Gottmannshofen is a district of the town of Wertingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube in Bavaria . Gottmannshofen was incorporated into Wertingen on May 1, 1978 together with its districts Geratshofen and Reatshofen . The place is southeast of Wertingen, it is separated from it by the river Zusam .

history

The parish village of Gottmannshofen is said to have originated as an extension of Wertingen. The place is first mentioned in 1272 as "Gothalmeshoven". The rule Wertingen bought after 1492 all possessions and became sole lordship .

The terminal station of the Mertingen – Wertingen railway line had been located between Gottmannshofen and Wertingen since 1905 .

Religions

The place is the seat of an old parish . The Catholic parish church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is also a pilgrimage church . It was the burial place of the Barons von Pappenheim, who died out in the male line in 1700 .
