Roggden is a district of the town of Wertingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . Roggden was incorporated into Wertingen on May 1, 1978. The church village is three kilometers southwest of Wertingen on the left of the Zusam .
history
Archaeological finds and cremation grave fields testify to a settlement in the Celtic and Roman times . Two kilometers west of the village is a Celtic double hill .
Today's Roggden was probably founded by the Alamanni , this is confirmed by a row grave cemetery found on the 6th / 7th centuries. Century. Around 1200 the place was first mentioned as "Routegenen". In the late Middle Ages he belonged to the Bocksberg rule and in 1504 came to the Augsburg Cathedral Chapter , which had him administered by the Obervogtamt Zusamaltheim . The Kaisheim Monastery , the Weihenberg Monastery , the Spital in Dillingen and the Holy Cross Monastery in Augsburg also owned the town . As a result of the secularization in 1802/03, the place came to Bavaria and was assigned to the Wertingen district court in 1804 .
Religions
Roggden belongs to the parish of Zusamaltheim . Today's Catholic branch church St. Felicitas was built on the site of a previous church from 1837.
