Hohenreichen is a district of the town of Wertingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . Hohenreichen was incorporated into Wertingen on July 1, 1972. The church village is four kilometers northeast of Wertingen in the valley of the Hohenreicher Mühlbach.
history
Hohenreichen is first mentioned in 1093 as "Ricchin". The village was originally called Kurzenreichen to distinguish it from Hohenreichen Castle and Langenreichen . The Lords of Reichen are first handed down in 1093, they can be documented until 1154. Via the marshals of Reichen, the place came to the later barons of Pappenheim and in 1467/69 to the rule of Wertingen . The cathedral chapter of Augsburg and the Augsburg monasteries Maria Stern and St. Moritz owned further possessions in the village .

Hohenreichen belongs to the parish Bliensbach . The former castle chapel of St. George was built in 1456.
