Career
Pascal Rhéaume began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian top junior league QMJHL , in which he was active from 1991 to 1993 for one season each for the Trois-Rivières Draveurs and Sherbrooke Faucons . He then received on October 1, 1993 a contract as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1996/97 season , where he scored a goal in two games. The remaining time in the New Jersey franchise was spent by the attacker from 1993 to 1997 with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Albany River Rats , with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 1994/95 season . On September 28, 1997 he was selected in the NHL Waiver Draft by the St. Louis Blues , for whom he played in the following four years as well as for their AHL farm team, the Worcester IceCats .
After Rhéaume had started the 2001/02 season with the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL, he played the following year and a half for their league rivals, the Atlanta Thrashers , before he was given to his ex-club New Jersey Devils on February 24, 2003 which he won the prestigious Stanley Cup for the first and only time in his career in the 2002/03 season. In the following season, the left shooter ran for the New York Rangers and his ex-club St. Louis Blues, before he bridged the lockout in the 2004/05 season at the Albany River Rats in the AHL. He had previously received another contract with the New Jersey Devils, for which he played only twelve games in the 2005/06 season before he was transferred to the Phoenix Coyotes . For the team from Arizona he was only once on the ice, while he played 47 times for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage , with which he also spent the entire 2007/08 season. The Canadian then moved to the Vienna Capitals from the Austrian ice hockey league , which he left after only one year. On August 5, 2008, the 2003 Stanley Cup winner received a free agent contract with the Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League, for which he has played since then.
