Éric Charron (born January 14, 1970 in Verdun , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Montréal Canadiens , the Tampa Bay Lightning , the Washington Capitals and the Calgary Flames and in the German Ice Hockey League for the Adler Mannheim was active.
Player career
The 1.91 m tall defender began his career with various teams in the Canadian Junior League QMJHL before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft as 20th in the first round of the Montreal Canadiens .
The left-handed shooter completed his first NHL appearances for the Canadiens in the 1992/93 season , the season in which the team won the Stanley Cup for the last time . However, Charron did not play any of the play-off games, so his name is not engraved on the trophy. He spent most of his time with the Montreal farm teams Fredericton Canadiens in the AHL and the Atlanta Knights in the IHL . For the 1993/94 season , the Canadian moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning , for which he was on the ice 63 times until 1996 . During the 1995/96 season Charron moved to the Washington Capitals , in 1997 he was transferred to the Calgary Flames .
In 2001 the Canadian moved to Europe where he played one season each for the Adler Mannheim in the DEL , the Nottingham Panthers in the British Ice Hockey Superleague and for HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the Russian Superleague . In 2004, Éric Charron returned to North America, where he has since played for various teams in the LNAH.
