The Chiefs de Laval ( English Laval Chiefs ) were a Canadian ice hockey team from Laval , Québec . The team played from 1998 to 2005 in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey .
history
The franchise of the Chiefs de Sainte-Thérèse from the Québec Semi-Pro Hockey League was relocated to Laval in 1998 and renamed Chiefs de Laval. The Chiefs de Laval played a total of seven years in the league, which was renamed in 2004 due to the increasing professionalization of its participants in Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. In the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons, the team was able to win the Coupe Futura . After the sporting success failed to materialize in their last two years, the franchise was sold to Genex Communications before the 2005/06 season and renamed Summum-Chiefs de Laval . A year later the team was relocated to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu .
