The Marquis de Jonquière ( English Jonquière Marquis ) are a Canadian ice hockey team from the Jonquière district in Saguenay , Québec . The team has played in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey since 2008 .

history

The team was founded in 2008 under the name 98.3 FM de Saguenay as a franchise of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey . After an eighth place and elimination in the quarter-finals of the play-offs for the Coupe Futura in its debut season, the team reached the play-off semi-finals in the 2009/10 season, in which it was eliminated against the eventual champions CRS Express de Saint-Georges . Before the season started, the Saguenay club had changed its name to Marquis de Saguenay. Three years later, the team changed its name again and renamed itself to Marquis de Jonquière after the district in which the team is based. There was an amateur team with the same name in the city as early as the 1950s.
