Martin Vrábel
Martin Vrábel (born September 21, 1955 in Prešov ) is a former Slovak long-distance runner .
Eight times he was Czechoslovakian champion over 10,000 m (1981, 1982, 1984-1989) and twice over 5000 m .
In 1987 he won the Dębno marathon and was sixth in the 10,000 m and twelfth in the marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Rome . The following year he won the Hamburg Marathon , but did not reach the finish line at the Olympic Games in Seoul either in the preliminary round of the 10,000-meter run or in the marathon. In 1989 he was seventh in the Rotterdam Marathon , second in the 25 km in Berlin and third in Hamburg.
In 1991 he finished second in the Houston Marathon and came 24th in the Tokyo World Championships marathon . At the World Half Marathon Championships in 1992 as part of the Great North Run , he finished 75th. The following year he won the Madrid Marathon and finished 35th in the marathon of the World Championships in Stuttgart , now starting for Slovakia.
